KITSILANO KEYSTONE

This client sought out the firm for its reputation of designing seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces. These earth scientist homeowners have an affinity for natural elements including stone and water. Garret Cord Werner carefully planned for special moments throughout the home to incorporate these much-loved materials into the client’s daily life. One of the key features of this home is an impressive rock positioned within a Japanese-inspired front garden. This harmonious concept continues through to the interior of the home via an open-air courtyard that connects the ground and second levels, providing natural light and blending the distinction between indoors and outdoors. As part of the schematic design process, the client was presented with two façade options. Garret Cord Werner enjoys the process of testing different concepts to best tailor the design to client tastes while fulfilling the project’s potential.
