BEAUTIFUL WINDOW TREATMENTS – MODERN RAPTURE

PROJECT - HUNTS POINT

In a new home in the Pacific Northwest, architect Rex Hohlbien and designer Garret Cord Werner created a master bathroom that is both unusual and unusually serene. Traditional elements, including old radiators and a freestanding tub, combine gracefully with contemporary element that echo Arts and Crafts elegance with a 21st- century spin. The towel bar on the window-wrapped tub relates to the sink cabinet, with its ebony stain and steel pulls. A honed granite countertop is offset handsomely by wallmounted faucets, gray aqueous tiles that cover the walls, and orange-tone Douglas fir woodwork. Though the house has privacy, the designer opted to use a simple, dramatic sheer panel at the tub. In addition to the unexpected element, the diaphanous, loosely pleated drapery provides sumptuous contrast, leading softness and overt beauty to a room with a masculine character and an abundance of hard lines and surfaces
