METROPOLITAN LIVING – INNERSPACE

PROJECT - DOWNTOWN CONDO

A peaceful escape within the busy city was the idea behind this living space. Interior designer Garret Cord Werner successfully created just that atmosphere, using clean lines, inviting textures and neutral colors. Pale, creamy hues give the contemporary condos in Belltown’s Concord building an open, airy feel. Honed-limestone floors, cherry cabinets and dune granite countertops contribute to the polished yet comfortable ambiance.

A soft chenille sofa and antique linen chairs contrast with a nearby dining-room set, which consists of chairs with distinctively shaped wooden backs and gold details and a wooden-based table with a lacquered Egyptian linen top. Red accents dot the room-rust-toned raw silk pillows on the sofa, red flowers on the table and a red cookie jar and plate in the kitchen. Such understated decor enhances one of the condo’s best features, the panoramic windows that provide lots of natural light and a beautiful view. Roller blinds cover the windows-and a pocket in the wall cleverly hides the blinds when they aren’t needed. Recessed ceiling lights that rotate and swivel illuminate the space without adding clutter. The only other light fixtures are a mounted picture light and a pair of handmade Cedric Hartman reading lamps, perfect for lighting up a good novel without blocking the view. In contrast to the often-chaotic nature of the outside world, Werner has brought order and serenity into this home.
